USS Shipley Bay crew members assigned to the ship and present at the Commissioning Ceremony received the Plank Owner's Certificate shown below.  Historically, a plank owner was entitled to one of the planks in the main deck when the ship was decommissioned.  The USS Shipley Bay actually had a wood flight deck but it is not know if any piece was saved when the ship was scrapped.
